X-Country - Foremark Reservoir - Provisional Report

X-Country - Foremark Reservoir - Provisional Report

An excellent turn out the Foremarke X-Country and DTC were well represented in both the Junior and Senior races and in also in the supporting ranks.

Once the results have been published I will update with all the facts and figures and Jason & Tom Wood will providing a report from the Junior Race - so watch this space!

Counting heads in the photo there were 25 DTC runners lining up for the start of the first x-country race of the year, which is now the 25th year of the x-country league.  It was good to see a lot of the team had completed a good warm-up and cycled down - maybe this was just to avoid the additional pound on the entry fee for parking.

It was a lovely morning for a run and the rain over the past couple of days made sure the course was extremely wet and muddy in parts which made for a challenging run, especially on the second lap.

Once again our team captain (Chris Nicoll) demonstrated why for the past few years he has been crowned male vet x-country champ and from the gun was part of the leading group.  Chris led the team home with an excellent 4th place overall and was backed up by a supporting cast of myself (15th), Jake (16th), Steve (17th), Swee (22nd). Mark (32nd), Jonathan (38th) and Damon (60th) to what we hope might be the lowest score of the day for a men's team and give us the lead in the men's league.

After that I was in the supporting ranks watching the last 100m of the race.  There were some epic sprint finishes from the DTC finishers making sure that they picked up every vital place they could.  Even if you don't individually score for the team you may beat a person who scores for another team meaning it gives our team a better chance of finishing higher in each of the leagues.  This is why we as many people as possible to turn up and run.

It was obvious everyone had given 100% and were duly rewarded with cake (provided by ??) and Chris Nicoll's chocolatey things.

If anyone is feeling inspired to share their experience of the x-country race today then send it over and I will post it up - if I get more than one report they will all get put on the website.

The next race is on the 17th November (Markfield I think) and takes place at a school and as reminded at the beginnging of the race - no dogs allowed!

Swee's mate Sam was there with his camera and got some great shots - hopefully if you click the link below you will be able to see Sam's gallery on Facebook.
